Robert Downey Jr dazzles fans with latest ‘The Sympathizer' trailer

Robert Downey Jr. cast a spell over his fans with his spellbinding act in the upcoming spy film The Sympathizer.

The miniseries co-produced by A24, Rhombus Media and HBO dropped its first trailer and fans can’t get enough of four versions of the 58-year-old actor.

Adapted from the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Viet Thanh Nguyen, the series is set against the background of 1975 Vietnam during the end of the war. The trailer peeks into the exciting journey of a North Vietnamese spy who is embedded in L.A.’s refugee community.

“Welcome to the world of spycraft”, Robert greeted in the teaser.

The moviegoers will get to see the struggles of a half-French, half-Vietnamese espionage who will reside in L.A. but continues to report back to Viet. Cong, grappling with his dual loyalties.

This cross-cultural satire also features the Oppenheimer actor who takes on several roles in the show including an up-and-coming Orange County Congressman, a CIA operative and a Hollywood film director.

“Let’s get down, let’s get funky!”, enthused the Academy Award-winning actor.

The cast also includes Fred Nguyen Khan, Toan Le, Vy Le, Alan Trong, Vy Le, Ky Duyen and Sandra Oh. Directed by Park Chan-wook (Oldboy), the dark comedy thriller will premiere on April 19, 2024.
