Willie Nelson just remembered another one of his hits, Angel Flying Too Close to the Ground, which was released back in 1980.

The prolific artist took to his official Instagram account to upload a throwback to one of his live performances of the song.

Angel Flying Too Close to the Ground ranked number one on the Billboard US Hot Country Songs shortly after its release and earlier this week, Nelson celebrated its success’ 43rd anniversary.

“This past week marks the 43rd anniversary of “Angel Flying Too Close to the Ground” hitting #1 on the country charts, making this song Willie’s seventh #1!” he captioned the video of his performance.

This song was featured in the film, Honeysuckle Rose and was Nelson’s seventh single to land the top spot on the music charts.

The Always on My Mind crooner previously posted a throwback to his other hit song, What A Wonderful World, in the previous week.

Willie Nelson is also expected to release his upcoming album titled, The Border on May 31, 2024. He released its title track on March 14, 2024.
