Taylor Swift is undoubtedly a much sought-after pop icon. But, for veteran author Sir Tim Rice, it will be a pass because he joked he does not want to get targeted in her songs after a breakup.

During an interview with The Times, the legendary lyricist said, “Taylor Swift: every time she falls out with somebody, the poor bloke gets slaughtered in the next song. In the unlikely event that Taylor Swift asked me out, I would say no.”

The 79-year-old remarks as he was calling out modern pop music, expressing that he would become "depressed" by listening to it.

He continued, “One of the things that depresses me today about a lot of pop music is that so many of these songs seem to be pretty miserable in a very 'me me me' way.”

Recalling an incident, he shared, “I was listening to Traitor by Olivia Rodrigo — she's a great singer and there's some great musicianship, but you think, "They sound really unhappy."

In the past, Taylor allegedly dissed her exes in her songs. Reports suggest the Carolina hitmaker's forthcoming album The Tortured Poets Department will have a new target: Joe Alwyn

"She's merely expressing herself," insiders share, "But she'd be lying if she said she didn't get some pleasure out of making these guys squirm."

Sources told OK! Magazine, "Taylor realizes she stayed with Joe way past the expiration date. She changed for him, but he wouldn't change for her."
