Robert Downey Jr.’s amazed co-star Danny McBride revealed interesting details about RDJ’s method acting skills that lend him an Oscar nomination.

Talking to GQ for a recent interview, the This Is the End star opened up about his experience with the father-of-three for his war-comedy, Tropic Thunder.

The 47-year-old actor revealed that RDJ’s was so committed to his craft that he maintained his character behind the scene.

He recalled, “I guess during one of the takes they had left Downey’s mic on and so I’m sitting up there and I’m like, ‘Oh s***, I can hear what he’s saying.”

“He was talking to people, and he was in character the whole time. And then I even watched him walk back to his trailer and saw it from down there and he was talking to himself.”

However, what stood out the most was his method acting extending to bathroom breaks as he added, “’I’m gonna go drain the snake, I’m gonna go drain the snake’ He made up a song about how was going to go piss in character for no one else’s benefit except for his own”.

For those who are unaware, the Iron Man actor portrayed an eccentric Australian actor Kirk Lazarus in the 2008 flick whose ridiculous commitment to his acting lend him a role in a movie-within-the-movie.

Kirk Lazarus portrayed a black supporting actor Lincoln Osiris and was required to stay in character at-all-times.

Meaning that Downey talking to himself during the bathroom break was actually Downey portraying Kirk Lazarus who was imitating a black supporting actor.

His dedication and complex method acting also led him to an Oscar nomination. However, he lost it to The Dark Knight’s Joker, Heath Ledger.
