Chris Hemsworth expressed his disappointment after losing a film role to none other than the director of the project, Kevin Costner.

According to Variety report, during an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Hemsworth revealed he was eager to participate in the film about a love story involving a man and a woman.

The role, which involved a horse wrangler, piqued the Marvel star's interest particularly because of his and his wife's fondness for horses.

"There was a movie, a script that I’d read and loved and was like, ‘I want to get that,’ and then someone said, ‘Kevin Costner has that [role],’ I’d love [to have] him as a director. I was like, ‘Goddamnit!’ [I spent] an hour the other day trying to convince him, and he was like, ‘I’m doing it, kid.’ Didn’t work. I didn’t get the part,'" he said.

The outlet revealed that according to Costner, the decision was influenced by his connection to the character and his belief that he was still fit to play the part.

"It’s a love story, but as long as I’m still young enough to play it, I’ll play it," Costner said.
