Rob McElhenney weighs in on prank wars with Ryan Reynolds: ‘He started it!’

Rob McElhenney spoke out about who began the ongoing and famous birthday pranks war with Welsh soccer team co-owner, Ryan Reynolds.

Appearing on the recent episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live, the 47-year-old actor weighed in on the ongoing turf and blamed Reynolds for initiating it in 2022.

“He started it”, he insisted before explaining the first time he got to know about the pranks, “A few years ago on April 14th, which is my birthday, I just went on to Instagram. Kaitlin [his wife] screamed from upstairs, ‘Check your Instagram.’”

“The 'Robert Lucinda McElhenney, which is not my middle name, ‘memorial urinal,’” the actor said recalling the first pranks.

He also revealed that the dedication is still there in the stadium of Wales and that anyone could go there and “do their business on my plaque, my face”.

Feeling the urge to up his friend with a retaliatory prank, the It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia star then commissioned a blimp featuring a not-so-great picture of Reynolds and “sailed it across the town of Wrexham”.

The image he referred to was his character from Deadpool when he was severely burned.

However, the father of two also revealed that the revenge plan backfired as he “broke a bunch of Welsh Aviation laws”.

The Free Guy actor also pulled a prank on Rob this year as he released a shirtless picture of his friend and went a step further by officially setting up a website to sell the merchandise with Rob’s sketch.
