Nicole Kidman addressed the news of receiving a prestigious Hollywood Award.
The 49th edition of the event that was originally set up in June but was later postponed due to the writer's strike. However, it has now officially been rescheduled for April 27 2024, and this is where Kidman will receive the lifetime honor.
Speaking with Stellar magazine, the 56-year-old actress weighed in on receiving the honorary achievement and expressed her gratitude.
“Receiving this award fills me with overwhelming gratitude”, she noted, “To be the first Australian to be honoured in this way leaves me speechless”.
“To be seen in the company of the greats like Lillian Gish, Bette Davis, Meryl Streep or Barbra Streisand is beyond my wildest dreams”, she added.
The Eyes Wide Shut actress would be the first Australian native to be receiving this award. Addressing this she said, “I grew up as a Sydney suburban girl who just wanted to act; to have forged a career by doing what I love is a blessing beyond my dreams”.
The mother of two will join legends like Alfred Hitchcock, Tom Hanks, Meryl Streep, Al Pacino, Morgan Freeman and Robert de Niro.
She'll receive AFI's 49th Life Achievement Award with previous honorees including directors like Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg along with stars like George Clooney, Barbara Streisand and Diane Keaton.
