‘Challengers' director reveals spicy detail about viral kiss

The three-way kiss of Challengers is the talk of the town. But, its filmmaker, Luca Guadagnino surprisingly revealed the steamy lip lock was not part of the original script.

In a chat with Entertainment Weekly, the director said the screenwriter Justin Kuritzkes did not write the viral scene in the initial script instead it was added during the rehearsals.

"I don't think that was in the script at the beginning. Not at all," he said. "We discussed at length with Justin the concept that the triangle needs to flesh out the possibility that all the corners touch."

After the discussion, the directors said the screenwriter went on to create the hotel room scene to enhance its "usefulness and fun."

"For me, it was all about staying there, staying with them, staying with the jokes, staying with the moment of embarrassment, followed by the moment of excitement, and eventually to show the geometry the movie sets up at that moment, the power that she had over them," he shared.
