Jodi Benson recently shared her admiration for Barbra Streisand.

Benson, known as the voice of Ariel in Disney's The Little Mermaid cited Streisand as her childhood hero during a panel at the Calgary Expo.

According to the Collider, Benson expressed heartfelt praise for the singer's unique ability to convey stories through song.

She said, "Such a brilliant icon and so influential in my vocal career and in my stage career. The way she tells a story when she sings - it’s just, absolutely breathtaking."

The Enchanted actress recalled growing up listening to Streisand's songs, imitating her, and remaining a huge fan to this day.

"O, I grew up knowing all of her songs and imitating her and just was a huge fan and still am today. I have never met her. I would love to meet her cause I think her granddaughter is a huge Ariel fan," she said.

Benson added, "So, if you have any contacts [laughs] I would just really love to meet her one day and just be able to tell her how influential she is in my career, because her ability to tell a story through song is unlike anyone else as far as I’m concerned… I’m so enamored with her career as a producer, as a director, as an actress, and as a vocalist," she added.
