28 Years Later producer has set the record straight on Cillian Murphy's appearance in the film.
The film, set to be released on June 20, 2025, which is a highly anticipated sequel to 28 Days Later, sparked speculations that Murphy might be returning to the franchise.
However, producer Andrew Macdonald has confirmed the news that Murphy won't appear in the film.
The speculations began after the release of the first trailer of the film, which showed a mysterious figure resembling Murphy's character, Jim, who was infected by deadly virus in the original film.
Now, speaking with Empire magazine, Macdonald revealed that the figure in the trailer was not the Oscar-Winning star.
It is worth mentioning that Macdonald did reassure fans, sharing with the magazine that "We wanted him to be involved, and he wanted to be involved."
“He is not in the first film, but I’m hoping there will be some Jim somewhere along the line. He’s involved at the moment as an executive producer and I would hope we can work with him in some way in the future in the trilogy," Macdonald hinted.
Additionally, the producer also shared a lighthearted moment when his partner said after watching the trailer that "People will think that’s Cillian," he added that "I said, ‘Don’t be silly.’ I ignored her. So I’ve eaten a bit of humble pie since."
