Renee Zellweger has opened up about a reason why she stepped back for six years from the Hollywood industry.

While chatting with British Vogue, the American actress candidly also talked about her mental health healing journey.

"Because I needed to... I was sick of the sound of my own voice,” the Judy actress began by saying.

Reflecting upon the reason behind her decision to take a break from 2010 to 2016 from the big screen, she said, "When I was working, I was like, 'Oh, my gosh, listen to you.”

“Are you sad again, Renée? Oh, is this your mad voice?' ... It was a regurgitation of the same emotional experiences.”

Zellweger is currently promoting the fourth installment of Bridget Jones in which she stars alongside Hugh Grant, Leo Woodall, and Colin Firth.

Moreover, the 55-year-old actress revealed what she did in her temporary break, and told the publication, "I wrote music and studied international law.”

"I built a house, rescued a pair of older doggies, created a partnership that led to a production company, advocated for and fund-raised with a sick friend.”

Before concluding, she shared, “And spent a lot of time with family and godchildren and driving across the country with the dogs. I got healthy."

For those unversed, Renee Zellweger was married to country singer Kenny Chesney from May 2005 to December 2005. She does not have her own children.

Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy is scheduled to be released in cinemas on February 12, 2025.
