A renowned Canadian actor, Taylor Kitsch, has opened up about the tough period he spent homeless before gaining prominence through Friday Night Lights (FNL).
Speaking to PEOPLE, the 43-year-old shared that when he moved from Canada to New York City in 2002 to step into the entertainment world, he was not able to pay for his needs, revealing, “I was literally sleeping on the subway.”
However, things started to change for the John Carter actor when he got a chance to meet with a talent manager.
Calling to mind, Kitsch said, “She was like, ‘What do you want to do?’ I said, ‘Character pieces.’ She was like, 'All right, I'll take a risk on you.'"
Notably, that same manager has stayed with him until today.
He went on to add that "All I’ve ever wanted to do is disappear into different characters. It’s never been about leading a show or being in the limelight or money.”
Those perks came when Kitsch, raised by his mom, Susan, worked for the BC Liquor Board and got the role of Tim Riggins in FNL in 2006.
"People, for some reason or another, just really gravitated to Riggins. It truly affected my life, and all for the better,” the Battleship star mentioned.
It is pertinent to mention that during the shooting of FNL, Taylor Kitsch also secured a role on the big screen, as he played Gambit in 2009's X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
