The Oscars have unveiled their nominations post the devastating LA wildfires.
Emilia Perez has made Oscar history by scoring nods in 13 different categories, becoming the most nominated film in Academy Awards’ history.
It has received nods in all major categories, including Best Picture and Directing.
Additionally, Emilia Perez star Karla Sofía Gascon has been nominated for Best Actress in a Leading Role and Zoe Saldaña might bag the Oscar for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for their contributions to the crime thriller.
It is also pertinent to mention that the Avatar actress was selected for the nomination in the category Best Actress in a Supporting Role, over Selena Gomez, who garnered much Oscar buzz for her role.
Other stars who did not receive the prestigious nod include Jamie Lee Curtis missing out in the same category as Gomez, for her role in The Last Showgirl.
Additionally, in the category of Best Actor in a Supporting Role, Denzel Washington was snubbed for his role in Gladiator II.
Meanwhile, another rather shocking snub would be that of Trent Reznor, who did not receive an Academy Award nod in the category of Best Original Score for his score in Challengers.
Soundtracks that made the cut in the aforementioned category are that of The Brutalist, Conclave, Wicked, The Wild Robot, and Emilia Pérez.
Two actresses who did receive their much-anticipated nominations are Wicked stars Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, both of whom managed to score nods in the categories of Best Actress in a Leading Role and Best Actress in a Supporting Role, respectively for their portrayals in the 2024 film.
