Drew Barrymore lifted the lids from her decision to step back from acting.
The 49-year-old TV host got candid about taking a break from acting and shifting her focus on her kids in a recent interview with AARP The Magazine for its February/March 2025 cover story.
It is pertinent to mention that Barrymore is a mother to two daughters Olive and Frankie whom she shares with her ex-husband Will Kopelman.
Barrymore looked back on her "early 40s, and not learning how to be my own healthy, independent individual, how to be the parent I dream to be"
"Being other people doesn’t help me figure that out right now," she noted. "And the long hours of doing films were hours I wouldn’t have with my kids. I wasn’t going to do that."
The Golden Globe winner's some notable works include Scream, Charlie’s Angels, Never Been Kissed, the Netflix comedy series Santa Clarita Diet and many more.
Back in 2023, Barrymore shared an update on her potential return to acting.
She told the Los Angeles Times that acting did not feel "emotionally available to me right now."
"I just need to be myself. I struggle to be someone else," the mother of two noted. "But I just can’t see acting right now. I know that sounds sad and dismissive, and I hate when people are like, 'I’m retiring,' or 'This is my goodbye.' I don’t want it to come off that way."
