The chart-topping pop sensation and Broadway star, Ariana Grande, has opened up about the surprising preparation she did for her Wicked audition.

Sharing the details in an upcoming appearance on The Graham Norton Show, the 31-year-old singer reflected on her audition process, sharing, “I started preparing for it before I even had an audition.”

Ariana added, “There were murmurs about the role, so I started working with voice and acting coaches—I wanted all the tools in the box to be available to me.”

“I thought if I did the work, then maybe I would have a chance. I was so nervous that I wouldn’t get the role, and I cried so much in the final screen test,” she shared.

Talking about her 2025 Oscar nomination, the Zoolander 2 star articulated, "It was so surreal – I did not expect at all. It is overwhelming I have been sobbing all day."

“It has been really emotional, and I am so grateful for our Wicked family and for Cynthia being celebrated. It is very special,” she noted.

It is pertinent to mention that Ariana Grande has been nominated for the 2025 Oscars for the first time in the category of Best Supporting Actress for her performance as Glinda in Wicked.
