The Weeknd is set to release his Hurry Up Tomorrow film on May 16, 2025.

Ahead of its release and following the launch of his sixth studio album of the same name, the artist, born Abel Tesfaye, hinted that this era might mark the end of his stage name, The Weeknd.

In his latest chat with Entertainment Weekly, the Blinding Lights singer left room for fans to wonder it might just not be as final as we thought it was.

Speaking at the CinemaCon alongside Hurry Up Tomorrow’s co-star, Jenna Ortega and director, Trey Edward Shults, Tesfaye stated, “It feels like it. I mean, I’ve kind of toyed with the idea in the past with albums.”

“But it could also just be a rebirth. Who knows?” the Save Your Tears hitmaker added.

For the unversed, Hurry Up Tomorrow film would be released on May 16 and would star The Weeknd himself as a fictional version of himself.

He would be going by his name, Abel, and would be portraying a musician suffering from insomnia, pulled into a rather psychologically dark journey by a stranger named Anima (played by Jenna Ortega).

Barry Keoghan stars as his manager, Lee and the plot is inspired by one for Tesfaye’s real-life experiences when he lost his voice mid-show back in 2022.
