Angela Bassett shares her kids' reaction to her 2025 Met Gala debut

Angela Bassett left her kids in awe of her with her recent milestone.

The 66-year-old Emmy winner, who is promoting her new film Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, shared that she really impressed her teenage daughter Bronwyn and son Slater, both 19, with her red carpet moment.

"We lived to impress these young ones. They were so thrilled that I got a chance to go and as was I," the actress told People Magazine after the event.

The 9-1-1 star also said she looked forward to her Met debut for "weeks and weeks" and had a "brilliant time" there "running into friends and colleagues," enjoying a "divine" meal by James Beard award–winning chef Kwame Onwuachi of N.Y.C.'s Tatiana, and reveling in performances by Stevie Wonder and Usher.

She also described Usher's performance as "entertainment at its highest."

For her debut, Bassett rocked a custom Burberry look featuring a blue jacquard velvet co-ord with a cape-sleeve waistcoat and trousers, which were in accordance with the gala's "Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” theme and "Tailored for You" dress code.

She also wore Messika jewelry and a Jon Narcisso Millinery top hat.

On Instagram, Bassett showed off her outfit, writing, "Ooo! We. Had. Us. a. TIME!!!" while thanking her "ride or die" glam squad and Met co-chair Anna Wintour for the experience. "I’m gonna float on this party for a long while! #feelingfineanddandy."

Bassett and her husband, Courtney B. Vance, welcomed their fraternal twins on Jan. 27, 2006, via surrogate.

Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning hits theaters May 23.
