King Charles and Prince William will attend the Order of the Bath Service at Westminster Abbey today, marking the Order's 300th anniversary year.
Prince William will be installed as the order’s Great Master during the event.
Royal expert Rebecca English took to X, formerly Twitter handle and tweeted, “At @wabbey for a service to mark the 300th anniversary of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath, whose recipients are normally senior military/civil servants.
“King Charles will attend for the first time as sovereign. Prince William will be installed as the order’s Great Master.”
According to the GB News, this will be a rare Royal Family first for King Charles as it will be his first service as Sovereign of the ancient order.
The ceremony continues a tradition established in 1725 by Letters Patent of George I.
King Charles as the Prince of Wales, was previously installed as Great Master by his mother, the late Queen Elizabeth II, back in 1975.
Commenting on the Prince of Wales new title, royal expert Hilary Fordwich told Fox News Digital, “Prince William has been assuming more responsibilities and there have been preparations for more transitions of responsibility.
“Both Prince William and Princess Catherine have been readying to assume leadership roles with an accelerated schedule of preparation for their future positions as king and queen. But most certainly, they are not in any way actively seeking an immediate ascension.”
