Princess Diana’s brother Charles Spencer has opened up about the grief he still experiences nearly three decades after the death of his sister, the mother of Prince William and Harry.
Charles Spencer released emotional statement as he appeared on ITV's Loose Men on May 15, a special edition of Loose Women marking Mental Health Awareness Week.
According to the GB News, Prince William and Harry’s uncle focused on sibling grief and spoke candidly about the emotional toll of Princess Diana's death and the deep bond he shared with his sister growing up.
During the emotional discussion, Princess Diana’s brother described the loss of a sibling as "an amputation."
He said, “You grow up with these people, they are your flesh and blood, they're with you forever, and then they're gone.”
Diana, the then Princess of Wales, died at age 36 in August 1997 following a car crash in Paris.
Spencer continued, "For years after Diana died, I would think, 'I must ring her and tell her something,' because we shared the same sense of humour and you just realise, of course, that's not going to happen."
Princess Diana’s brother remarks come days after Prince Harry told the BBC he "would love a reconciliation" with the Royal Family.
In an emotional interview Prince Harry said, "There have been so many disagreements between myself and some of my family," but had now "forgiven" them.
"I would love reconciliation with my family. There's no point continuing to fight any more, life is precious," the duke went on saying.
