Trump press secretary explains his remarks against Taylor Swift

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt on Monday explained President Donald Trump's latest remarks against Taylor Swift.

"What does President Trump mean when he says that Taylor Swift is no longer hot? asked a reporter during a briefing.

The question elicited laughter from reporters and the press secretary herself before she answered, "Look, he is speaking about Taylor Swift's political views and how perhaps it has impacted the support of the American public for her work and I will leave it at that."

Last week, Trump wrote on his Truth Social, “Has anyone noticed that since I said ‘I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT.' she’s no longer ‘HOT."

The president's feud with the singer dates back to last year’s White House race.

Trump first wrote on social media last September that he “hated” Swift, after the 35-year-old performer backed then-Vice President Kamala Harris in the presidential election.

Swift has been critical of Trump in the past, saying in a 2019 interview that he was “gaslighting the American public.”

“We’re a democracy — at least, we’re supposed to be — where you’re allowed to disagree, dissent, debate. I really think that he thinks this is an autocracy,” Swift said at the time.
