An attempt Kate Middleton made to take control of her own children’s narrative has recently resurfaced and led to many a conversation.

For those unversed, this is in reference to her decision to take up the role of photographer, when it comes to her husband and kids.

The reason for this is believed to be an attempt at dissuading paparazzi from invading private spaces, or taking awkward pictures of the Windsors.

Her effort resurfaced in a Channel 5 documentary that is titled Kate: A Queen for the Future.

A journalist named Afua Hagan provided what she believes the explanation is, and said, “The Princess of Wales understands who she is, the position that she's in. She also understands the interest in her family, especially her children, that people want to see them growing up. So she understands that the press needs these pictures.”

Not to mention, she has also seen, “through her husband, Prince William, the damage that the press has done to his life and so she's realized that if she can do something about that, if she can take control, then she should do that.”

And this move was “something which was unprecedented at the time,” Ms Hagan said according to The Sun.

But, “she decided that she was going to be the one to photograph her own children, which I think was an absolutely brilliant move.”

“She's decided I will take them and I will deliver them to the press agencies. I'll be the one that post them on social media.”

It is pertinent to mention that the Firm also made many efforts to stop such unauthorized actions from taking place in the past too.

Back in 2015 Kensington Palace even issued a letter that warned against such actions, citing the safety of Prince George and his then-3-month-old sister Princess Charlotte’s safety as the reason.

At the time they explained their stance with the words, “the worry is that it will not always be possible to quickly distinguish between someone taking photos and someone intending to do more immediate harm.”

Later the Metropolitan Police also joined in and urged the same, “Photographers are potentially putting themselves at risk from armed intervention where our armed officers perceive a risk to the personal safety of their principal, the public and themselves,” they said.

“When assessing potential threats armed officers have to make split second decisions regarding their use of force in order to protect their principals, the public and their colleagues.”
