Real reason Sandra Bullock, Keanu Reeves never dated despite liking each other

Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves are reuniting for another romantic thriller after Speed, which made fans wish they would date in real life.

The duo previously confessed that they each had a crush on each other while filming Speed, but the other person didn’t know.

Now, a source says there was a specific reason it didn’t work out.

"Sandra always wanted a relationship, but Keanu was too much of a bohemian back in those days," explained the source. "They might wonder, 'what if,' but it wasn't in the cards for them."

In the past few years, the actors have both said that they wanted to do a project together again.

"Before I die, before I leave this planet, I do think that Keanu and I need to do something in front of the camera," Sandra said during a joint interview with Reeves on the 50 MPH podcast.

"Are we, you know, in wheelchairs or with walkers?" she continued. "Are we on little scooters at Disneyland?"

Chiming in, Keanu said, "It does feel like there is a siren call to it, like there’s something that wasn't done. I would love to work with you again before our eyes close."

Now that a reunion project has been confirmed, a source says that the duo kept their plans secret until the project got finalized.

"Sandra and Keanu really clicked while they were making Speed and became good friends," a source told Radar Online.

"Both being private people, they knew they could talk about stuff, and it wouldn’t go further," added the source. "They've really been there for each other through all the ups and downs over the years."

Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock first appeared together on screen in the 1994 romantic thriller Speed. They then reunited in the 2006 romantic drama The Lake House.
