Katy Perry is facing immense backlash over every other step she takes in her career, and she blames her time on American Idol for it.
Katy was most recently bashed for her Blue Origin trip to the space, which fans and even other celebrities like Olivia Munn said was extravagant, a huge waste of money and also damaging to the environment.
Before that, she came under fire for working with producer Dr. Luke – who was accused of verbal and sexual abuse by Kesha – on her latest album 143, which also failed to impress fans.
"Katy is at the end of her rope. She's faced a backlash that’s unprecedented for an artist who didn't do anything criminal," an insider said, per Radar Online. "And she’s convinced it all started with American Idol."
“Katy thought she was elevating her career as a judge on Idol, but now she says it left her overexposed and made her a punchline," the tipster explained, "Katy wishes she'd never done the show."
The Dark Horse hitmaker’s career was soaring in 2010 and 2011, when she made a record by becoming the first female pop star to have a song in the Top 10 hit on the Billboard charts for 52 consecutive weeks.
She joined American Idol in 2018 as a judge. At the time her career was still going well. But her attitude on the show displeased fans, who thought she was condescending toward the contestants. Katy Perry was replaced by Carrie Underwood last year.
