Domhnall Gleeson has opened up about John Krasinski’s “big” advice regarding the spinoff The Office, The Paper.
While catching up with PEOPLE magazine at the May 19 premiere of Fountain of Youth, the 42-year-old Irish actor and screenwriter, who has been cast in The Paper, revealed what Krasinski told him about the role.
Gleeson shared, “He was wonderful. I mean, his big advice that he gave me was to do it.”
Expanding on this and referring to both The Office and The Paper developer, he explained, “And the same with Steve Carell, another just wonderful actor who I'd worked with before. And their advice was, if it's Greg Daniels, you should do it because getting to work with him is a treat that not many people get to have.”
The Black Mirror star admitted, “And I'm so happy I did it because I think we have something really lovely. So, I'm thrilled with it.”
Gleeson went on to note that Krasinski and Carell’s support helped him feel good about taking the role and their “glowing reports” about working on The Office made it easier to say yes.
“I mean, I like to think I would've got there on my own anyway, but certainly if [John] and Steve had been like, 'Don't do it, it's a nightmare,' I would've hightailed it, but they could not have been more positive about it, and I'm delighted I listened to them,” he mentioned.
Before concluding, it is pertinent to mention that The Paper also includes Tim Key, Alex Edelman, Ramona Young, Chelsea Frei, Gbemisola Ikumelo, and Melvin Gregg.
