Jason Segel shares key thing he said to Michael J. Fox on 'Shrinking' set

Shrinking star Michael J. Fox is an idol to his costar Jason Segel.

In Shrinking, Jason Segel stars as a therapist who ditches the teachings of the profession and begins to tell his real opinions to his patients. Indiana Jones star Harrison Ford plays his on-screen mentor Paul, who develops Parkinson’s disease.

The Back to the Future star, who also has Parkinson’s, has joined the cast for the third season of the show, much to the delight of his ultimate admirer, Jason Segel.

At the Shrinking FYC Event at Apple TV+ Emmy House on Sunday, May 18, the How I Met Your Mother actor told People what he said to his idol when they began working together.

He said, “I didn't get so specific as much as telling him that he was an idol of mine.”

He added, “I got the chance to tell him that he was a huge inspiration to me while I was in a weirdly similar situation doing How I Met Your Mother and movies at the same time and being tired,” he continued.

“We always would talk about Michael J. Fox and what he was doing with Back to the Future and Family Ties at the same time,” he explained.

“He's an idol for sure,” concluded Jason Segel.

The third season of Shrinking marks Michael. J Fox’s return to acting following retirement in 2020 due to his struggles from Parkinson's.
