Gayle King crashed a stranger's wedding over the weekend.

The CBS Mornings co-anchor, 70, was staying at The Omni Grove Park Inn & Spa in Asheville when she learned of a wedding ceremony taking place at the venue last Saturday.

The news came from one of the grooms—former college baseball player Matt Kaplon—who told Outsports that Gayle was in the area with Oprah Daily creative director Adam Glassman to work on a story about Asheville’s recovery in the wake of Hurricane Helene.

On a surprise turn of events, Gayle got the urge to come say hello despite only being dressed in a green sweatsuit.

The journalist—who recently celebrated the wedding of her son, William "Will" Bumpus Jr.—also snapped a photo with the newly-married couple and posed for photos with other wedding guests, per an Instagram post shared by attendee Rachel Hale.

"It was incredible," Kaplon told People Magazine of the experience, adding that the crashers "were so kind!"

They "were treats," he continued, adding that he and partner Nicolaus Wegrzyn "were so surprised and just grateful that they wanted to come share their best wishes and congratulations with us."

"It was not an intrusion at all, and all of our guests were shocked and excited," Kaplon said of the surprise guests. And the couple also had a chance to chat with the crashers, he revealed.
