Dakota Johnson knows when to keep her thoughts to herself.
Dakota has strong opinions about home decor, but holds back on criticizing her pals’ choices.
In a lie detector test with Vanity Fair, The Materialists actress, 35, shared her thoughts on home decor.
The interviewer asked, “Have you ever lied about liking a friend’s decor, when you really didn’t?”
“Yeah, you have to,” she said.
The Fifty Shades of Grey star continued. “You can’t go in and be like, ‘Ugh, Leslie, what did you do?’ You have to go, ‘Ah, look what you did! Amazing.’ Like that.”
When asked if she thinks accent walls are ever “a good look,” she responded with a firm “No.”
Asked if she likes “karate-chopped pillows,” Dakota replied, “Sure, but like, why? You know?”
Regarding matching sofa sets, she said it “depends on who made the set.”
Next, the interviewer asked about Dakota’s cozy home, which she showcased in an Architectural Digest home tour in 2020.
“You gave Architectural Digest a tour of your home, and it has since gone viral. Were you surprised that your green kitchen became so popular?” the interviewer asked. “Yeah, sure was,” replied the actress.
“Would you consider yourself a trendsetter? Green kitchens are quite popular now,” said the interviewer.
“I don’t know if I would consider myself a trendsetter,” said Dakota.
The actress revealed in AD’s cover story that she purchased that house with her first big paycheck from the first Fifty Shades of Grey film. She toured only one house and bought it.
“I was immediately drawn to how it was clean but also cozy,” she told AD of her home. “I thought, I’ll never want to sell this place.”
She noted that she needed a home to feel anchored to a place as she worked a lot.
“I thought it would be healthy to have a base,” she added. “With my job and the velocity at which my schedule can change, it’s important for me to have a place to go to and it be mine. Psychologically, I’m moored somewhere. This place is my anchor.”
Dakota Johnson’s film The Materialists will hit theaters on June 13.
