The Queen’s Commonwealth Trust has now announced its new name: The Queen Elizabeth II Commonwealth Trust.

According to, diplomat Ameer Kotecha, who has been a Trustee for the past couple of years, said the change has been made at the request of "His Majesty The King and Buckingham Palace and reflects our mutual desire to honour the legacy of the late Queen Elizabeth."

In a statement made on social media, he said, "Her late Majesty was a lifelong champion and advocate of the Commonwealth and its young people."

Ameer Kotecha added, "Her late Majesty was a lifelong champion of the Commonwealth and a passionate advocate for its young people. By carrying her name forward, we pay tribute to her firm belief in the power of youth to shape a better future."

Queen Elizabeth II died at the age of 96 in September 2022.
