‘Enough of Washington's orders': Venezuela's acting president warns US

Venezuela’s acting president, Delcy Rodriguez, has challenged the United States (U.S.) for the first time since the Operation Absolute Resolve, which resulted in the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.

The 56-year-old politician said she had enough of U.S. orders, stating, “Enough already of Washington’s orders over politicians in Venezuela.”

She urged the U.S. not to interfere in the internal politics of Venezuela, adding, “Let Venezuelan politicians resolve our differences and internal conflicts.”

Rodriguez’s statement comes nearly a month after she took office, amid the growing U.S. pressure to resume oil production.

After capturing Maduro, the U.S. president said that the U.S. would run the South American country; however, Rodriguez has maintained that the U.S. has no governing role in Venezuela.

The country is already divided between two factions: Maduro loyalists and Supporters of late Hugo Chaves, who accused Maduro of betraying the socialist principles, placing the acting president on a tight spot as she struggles to maintain law and order in the country.

The U.S. is now selling Venezuelan crude oil and has already completed a sale worth $500 million.

The White House has yet to react to the latest statement of the acting Venezuelan president.
