Kieran Trippier makes a surprising yet emotional Newcastle departure announcement.
Kieran Tripper’s exit marks the end of an era at the Saudi-owned club.
Trippier joined Newcastle in January 2022 for a deal of £12m from Atletico Madrid helping to boost its performance.
Newcastle was taken over by the Saudi Arabian in October 2021.
He played for over 150 games for the club, scoring four goals, and was a member of the Carabao Cup-winning team that crushed Liverpool at Wembley in March, 2025.
Eddie Howe’s squad is set for a summer overhaul at a time when there is doubt that the manager will reach his fifth anniversary at St. James’ Park this November.
The 35-year-old right back said in an interview that appeared on his bidding farewell club’s portal, Newcastle.
Emotional Trippier said, “The time has come to leave this amazing club after four-and-a-half years.”
“This is where I have felt most at home. It’s emotional, and I’m really going to miss it.”
“I want to say a massive thank you to the supporters for all the support through the good and the bad times.
“You’ve always supported me, always stood by me.”
Fighting back tears, he said, “To my team-mates, it’s going to be emotional. It’s been an amazing journey with you guys.
“I’m going to miss you guys. I’m going to miss you all, but to win a trophy with you guys was really, really special—the best of my career.”
Trippier then turned his gratitude to Howe, adding, “And to the manager, Eddie Howe, all the coaching staff and the team behind the scenes, a massive thank you.
“I’m going to miss everyone at the club. Thank you.”
Tripper retired from the Three Lions in August 2024, having been triumphant in major tournaments.
