Prince Edward stepped out to fulfil his responsibility after King Charles assigned a key role to him and Duchess Sophie amid family tensions.

According to the Lord-Lieutenant of Cornwall's Instagram page, the Duke of Edinburgh performed a few engagements during his two-day visit to Cornwall.

Edward began his tour by visiting Phytome Life Sciences, a "cutting-edge botanical medical research facility before popping in to see the restoration of a Spitfire.

The father-of-two, who is a patron of Hall for Cornwall, was delighted with the performance of Faulty Towers and interacted with the cast and crew afterwards.

On the second day of his visit, Prince Edward celebrated Drama Express’ 10th anniversary in Chacewater.

"The visit concluded at @thebuttermarketredruth, where he met with Redruth Revival CIC, local supporters and sampled some delicious treats from local vendors," the statement further reads.

It is pertinent to note that Edward returned to duty after celebrating Queen Elizabeth's 100th birth anniversary with the royal family.

The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh were also made part of a special photo taken during Buckingham Palace reception, showcasing the key allies of King Charles.

Sophie and Edward, who always stood with the monarch, are expected to play key roles in order to strengthen the King's reign.
