King Charles is preparing to address the US Congress that could be one of the most delicately balanced moments of his reign.

Drafts have been moving back and forth between Buckingham Palace and 10 Downing Street, with aides fine tuning every word.

While the government’s stance will be reflected, palace insiders are keen to stress that the King retains final editorial control.

The speech which is expected to anchor a high-profile US visit, is being crafted with surgical precision.

Sources suggest it will steer well clear of a minefield of controversial topics from royal family tensions involving Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, to ongoing surrounding Andrew and the wider fallout of the Jeffrey Epstein scandal.

Geopolitics is also being handled with caution particularly the escalating tensions involving Iran.

Instead, the focus is expected to land on shared values, historic ties, and the enduring alliance between the UK and the US, diplomats often call the “special relationship.”

As relations between London and Washington have faced recent strains over foreign policy differences, including military strategy in the Middle East.

Insiders also describe the process as meticulous, with multiple revisions still underway until recently hardly surprising given the stakes.
