ISLAMABAD: Police Legal Branch is reviewing an order issued by the Justice of Peace to lodge a case against Geo News and Jang Group.
Legal experts in the departments said as to how the orders were issued when the complainant had not taken the case to police first before submitting the application with the Justice of Peace.
They wondered on what ground the Justice of Peace had decided before any investigation that the ‘crime was committed’.
The police legal experts also reviewed whether the complainant was affected part as the aggrieved party (Defence Ministry) had also moved an application in the PEMRA.
Police Legal Branch said the orders seeking registration of case against Geo/Jang were issued by the Justice of Peace not by the judiciary.
They also rejected the impression that the court orders were flouted by not registering a case.
The police experts also considered as to why an Additional Session Judge acted as the Justice of Peace while deciding the application.
Others experts say Lahore, Islamabad and Sindh High Courts had rejected applications against the Jang Group.
