Junaid Jamshed: The music icon

Fans in Pakistan and across the world are mourning the death of Pakistani pop music icon Junaid Jamshed, who was killed along with his wife in a plane crash near Havelian on Wednesday.

Despite his later move away from music and closer to religion, for many fans, Junaid Jamshed was arguably the finest vocalist ever in Pakistani pop music.

The fame started in August 1987, when his band Vital Signs released the hugely popular song 'Dil Dil Pakistan', bringing them nationwide fame. The tune is regarded as one of the most popular patriotic songs after perhaps the national anthem itself.

Junaid is also known for another massively popular song, Aitebar, which every aspiring guitar player remembers as one of their first songs that they learn after pick the guitar for the first time.
