Zendaya just spoke of the two “iconic” women who were her biggest inspiration for the newly released movie, Challengers.

In a conversation with PEOPLE magazine, she addressed the tennis champions, Venus and Serena Williams, saying, “My only understanding of tennis as a kid growing up was them.”

“When I thought of tennis as a kid, they would be that for me. They are my entry point to understanding anything tennis,” the 27-year-old actress said of the super-star sisters.

Zendaya also revealed that she and her sports-themed movie co-stars “did a lot more research” on the William sisters.

“They are iconic, and I admire both of them so much, not just for what they've accomplished in the sport, but I think beyond: their impact and their significance for so many people, specifically Black women," the Euphoria actress stated.

Zendaya also stated how she studied the sister playing on court, to perfect her role as Tashi in the movie, saying, “I don't want to compare myself in any way in this performance because I am nowhere near the greatness that they possess.”
