Veteran actor and host Nauman Ijaz, who has scores of successful dramas to his name, has said that if was made the chairman of censor board, he would shut down all the TV dramas.

During an appearance in a private TV channel’s show, Ijaz said this in reply to a query that what changes he would bring if he was appointed as the censor board’s chairman.

“I will ban all the dramas, because (family) relations in the dramas are being debased to so much extent. I feel sad for my people that why they don’t pick up a rock and throw at TV channels,” he said.

Ijaz, 59, said that they had portrayed all family relationships including mother, sister, brother, mother-in-law and father as witches and evil.

“All the relationships that we have, their sanctity is being destroyed by showing them negatively,” he said.

Ijaz said that when something was shown on TV, it had an impact in the society.

It was a matter of concern but people were not understanding that, the actor said, adding that the more negative the character was, people made it more superhit.

Ijaz said there was a drama wherein a sister-in-law was portrayed negatively and its rating went so high that he laughed at it.

Ijaz said that negativity extensively prevailed in the society as he wished to bring a change.
