Fans long expect a third installment of National Treasure. However, the recent comments by its lead star, Nicolas Cage, have cast doubt over any sooner release of the adventure thriller film.

Amid the promotions of The Surfer, he shared an update on the movie. “Don’t know. I do know that there’s been more chatter about it than normal," he said.

In other news, Nicolas is fully backing his son Weston, who allegedly, in a manic episode, attacked his mother Weston.

He did not face jail after pleading guilty in the trial but will be ordered to enroll in a two-year health diversion program.

Given this, an insider told In Touch, “Nic is ‘so relieved that Weston won’t be getting locked up over this because he’s got no doubts that would only make things worse for him.’”

“People can judge him all they want, but Nic feels his son needs his support now more than ever."

"That’s why he did everything in his power to get Weston help and he feels that the judge made the right choice by sparing him jail time,” the source concluded.
