“I met John Waters last night, which was insane. One of my idols! And I was talking about how there are only so many ‘firsts’ you can have with your career. And he said, ‘No, no, no—there are all the firsts to go through when you become an actress!’” she told W magazine.

“And I said, ‘I’m not an actress—what are you talking about?’ He said, ‘Every singer is an actress!’ And I was like, ‘Okay, maybe I am! Damn! If John Waters says I’m an actress, maybe I am!’” cried the Pink Pony Club singer.

Despite this new change in Chappell’s attitude towards acting, she has previously stated that she’ll never foray into that industry.

In August 2024, she told Bowen Yang, “I say this with peace, and love, and blessings. Actors are f---ing crazy.”

“Like, I get so freaked out by film people," she added in the Interview Magazine conversation. "I’ve been asked in the past couple of weeks, like, ‘You want the lead in XYZ?’ and I’m like, ‘No.'”

"I originally started doing music because I wanted to get my foot in the door for acting, and then I moved to Los Angeles, and I was like, 'F--- that,” she shared. "The industry is legitimately so scary, and it is so out of my control."

Chappell Roan shot to fame with the release of her debut album The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess, which she put out in 2023.
