Lav Diaz just spoke candidly about acting in the psychological horror film The Sacrifice.
While conversing with Variety at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival, the 66-year-old Filipino filmmaker and former film critic reflected on his forthcoming horror thriller, which is currently in production in the Philippines.
Without sharing many details, Diaz said, “I love the character. He’s a conflicted person — he paints a picture of the type of person we see every day. The greatest struggle in life is how to be a good human being, and I think Pilo embodies that conflict. I loved playing this role.”
He went on to talk about working with a new generation of directors by quipping, “I love working with fellow filmmakers, especially young filmmakers. You feel rejuvenated doing cinema with young people.”
For the unversed, The Sacrifice, which does not have a release date yet, is being produced by Montgomery Blencowe and Mark Stewart in collaboration with Kind Hearts Entertainment and C’est Lovi Productions.
It is pertinent to mention that Diaz, who has directed movies like Norte, the End of History and The Woman Who Left, is now working under the direction of Prime Cruz in The Sacrifice.
