The Philadelphia Eagles attended a reception with US President Donald Trump at the White House to celebrate their Super Bowl victory in April this year.
The US president said that he also plans to host the Kansas City Chiefs to commemorate their Super Bowl victory, which was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to reports, Jalen Hurts and several Philadelphia Eagles teammates skipped the reception at the White House.
The White House said at the time that Hurts and other players had "scheduling conflicts." The invitation was optional for players to attend, and less than half the team showed up.
Donald Trump's invitation to the Kansas City Chiefs for a White House celebration hasn't materialized into a confirmed event yet, and it doesn't seem like it will be hosted anytime soon.
This uncertainty follows Trump's recent social media post targeting Taylor Swift.
In his Truth Social post, Trump wrote, "Has anyone noticed that, since I said 'I hate Taylor Swift,' she's no longer 'HOT'?"
Taylor Swift has been dating Kansas City Chief's tight end Travis Kelce, and according to insiders, the player is fuming with anger over Trump's remarks against his girlfriend.
The relationship between Trump and Taylor Swift suggests that Travis Kelce would opt to skip the event even if the president invites his team to the White House.
Trump, on the other hand, would not want the White House to explain the absence of Kelce like it had to when several players of the Philadelphia Eagles skipped.
While a simple explanation for Eagles' players was enough, Kelce's absence would certainly put the president in a bad light.
