Govt preparing detailed cinema revival strategy under PM's directive

Stakeholders assured comprehensive roadmap to revitalise showbiz sector will soon be presented to the PM

The federal government is gearing up to present a comprehensive revival plan for Pakistan’s struggling cinema and film industry, with a formal briefing to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expected soon.

The development was shared during the second high-level meeting on reviving the country’s cinema and film industry, chaired by Huzaifa Rehman, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) and Minister of State for the National Heritage & Culture Division (NH&CD). 

The meeting was held on the special directive of the prime minister of Pakistan.

Singer and actor Ali Zafar, film director Satish Anand, Secretary Information, Secretary NH&CD, representatives from a private film company, and other senior stakeholders from the creative and cultural sectors attended the meeting.

The participants discussed actionable strategies to rejuvenate the cinema sector, institutional reforms, and long-term support for the sustainable growth of Pakistan’s film industry.

SAPM Rehman assured the participants that a comprehensive roadmap will soon be presented to the prime minister, followed by a detailed presentation in the presence of all key stakeholders.
