Shaboozey breaks silence over viral American Music Awards reaction

Shaboozey finally talked about his reaction at the 2025 American Music Awards.

On stage, as the country musician, Megan Moroney made a joke at the AMAs, it didn’t sit well with The Bar Song (Tipsy) hitmaker.

As the duo were gearing up to present the award for Favorite Country Duo or Group, she claimed that it was the Carter Family, an American folk music group, who were the first to win this award in 1974, “basically invented country music.”

Appearing unamused, Shaboozey gave her a side-eye, almost seeming as if he rolled his eyes and the moment, caught on camera, instantly went viral.

Now on social media, particularly his X, formerly Twitter, the Let It Burn crooner wrote, “When you uncover the true history of country music, you find a story so powerful that it cannot be erased…”

He continued, “The real history of country music is about people coming together despite their differences, and embracing and celebrating the things that make us alike.”

Also commenting underneath Megan’s recent Instagram post from the AMAs, he wrote:

“Just want to clear something up: my reaction at the AMAs had nothing to do with Megan Moroney! She’s an incredibly talented, hard-working artist who’s doing amazing things for country music and I’ve got nothing but respect for her.”

Shaboozey further wrote, “'I’ve seen some hateful comments directed at her today, and that’s not what this moment was about. Let’s not twist the message - she is amazing and someone who represents the country community in the highest light!”

Megan Moroney is yet to officially comment on this scenario nor did she respond to the comment as of yet.
