Prince Harry has been receiving backlash over his surprise visit to China as experts said his attempt to outshine King Charles has failed.
King and Queen Camilla arrived in Ottawa for a whistlestop state visit, the Duke of Sussex appeared at a tourism conference in Shanghai to speak about sustainable travel.
During his trip to China, Harry spoke about the need for more sustainable travel while representing Travalyst, the eco-tourism group he helped start, which encourages environmentally friendly travel.
At the Envision 2025 Global Partner Conference, Harry said the travel industry needs to take stronger action to meet climate goals by 2030.
Meanwhile, Charles gave a powerful speech as he visited Canada for less than 48 hours to attend the state opening of parliament.
Charles delivered a speech calling the country “strong and free,” following Trump’s comments when he controversially suggested Canada should become the 51st U.S. state.
"It is with a sense of deep pride and pleasure that my wife and I join you here today as we witness Canadians coming together in a renewed sense of national pride,” he said.
"Today, Canada faces another critical moment,” the monarch added.
"Democracy, pluralism, rule of law, self-determination and freedom are values which Canadians hold dear, and ones which the government is determined to protect."
Speaking on The Sun, royal expert Bronte Coy was asked if Harry, the Duke of Sussex, could be "trying to steal the limelight.”
In response, Coy said Harry’s speech didn’t have much impact and couldn’t match the significance of the King’s address.
"It was a very supportive speech,” she said of King’s address. "And I think that, as I say, even though it was such a quick trip, it had such a major impact.
"[Whereas] Harry's didn't really make the cut,” she added.
