Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants director Ken Kwapis shared some insights into Blake Lively's first film in a recent interview.
Kwapis shared that the bond formed between the cast including America Ferrera, Alexis Bledel, Lively, and Amber Tamblyn is still going strong even after 20 years since its release.
While reflecting on the set experience, Kwapis shared details about Lively’s behavior during the filming of The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.
"It's hard to imagine anyone else other than Blake Lively as Bridget, even though it was her first acting job," the director praised.
"I mean, she was 16 when she came in to audition and yet she won it in the room," Kwapis continued.
"She had such a sort of intuitive connection to this character," he added.
Moreover, the director revealed a unique "challenge" he had was getting Lively and the other three stars to bond like lifelong friends, even though they had never met before the film, and their characters don’t share many scenes.
To overcome the gap, Kwapis sent Lively and the other cast members on a thrift shopping spree on a budget to rehearse as their characters.
The exercise worked so well that the four actors are still good friends even after two decades.
"It's so amazing and it's particularly rare in show business. I think that in show business people have intense relationships for a short time and then go their separate ways," he added.
