Meghan Markle’s estranged father, Thomas Markle, is said to be struggling to adjust to life in the Philippines after relocating earlier this year with his son, Thomas Jr.

Thomas moved to the Philippines in hopes of a fresh start after spending over a decade living in Mexico before moving to Cebu Island, where the intense heat and humidity have made the transition difficult, reported New York Post.

A source told the publication that the move has been hard, but the father-son duo are supporting each other.

“Thomas and his son took the plunge and moved to Southeast Asia,” they asid. “It’s been hard but they have each other.”

This comes after a source told The Mirror that there are “only two types of weather in Cebu: hot and humid, and hot and humid and raining.”

“It’s brutal even for men half his age, but it’s still sad to see him looking as though he’s struggling,” they added.

Speaking to Daily Mail before relocation, Thomas, who hasn’t spoken to Meghan since before her wedding to Prince Harry in 2018, said, “I travelled in that part of the world when I was a younger man.”

“The people are so kind and welcoming, and they are respectful to older people,” he shared, adding that it’s a “place of culture and beauty.”

“At 80 it is time to go somewhere where the people are lovely and I can enjoy a quieter, friendlier existence,” he continued.

“In South-East Asia the medical care is good, you can live reasonably cheaply, the people are kind and respect older people and the food is healthy.”

He concluded that he “wants whatever time I have to be peaceful with none of the awful drama of recent years.”
