Why did Harrison Ford decide to join 'Shrinking'?

In Shrinking, Harrison Ford plays Dr. Paul Rhoades, a senior therapist who has been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. But what caused him to join the show?

His co-star and creator of the series, Jason Segel, revealed this in an interview with Variety.

He said the Indiana Jones star was not familiar with his work. So, the makers have sent him some of his films, such as Forgetting Sarah Marshall and The End of the Tour.

"He didn't know anything about me. They sent him The End of the Tour and Forgetting Sarah Marshall," the 45-year-old said, adding the Star Wars star sent a message to the series producer Bill Lawrence after watching the films.

"Then, apparently, (Shrinking producer) Bill Lawrence got a text that said, 'I'm in And tell the kid, great ****.'" the actor recalled.

Similarly, Harrison and Jason shared good on-screen chemistry, which the latter explained in an interview with NBC's Today show in October 2024, "I desperately want his approval. And he doles it out in such small doses, and it just means the world to me. Every time he says 'good job, kid,' I'm like, 'He likes me!'".

In the meantime, Shrinking has been renewed for season three, while production on it is ongoing.
