Princess Eugenie stepped into spotlight as she reaffirmed her commitment to ending human trafficking and modern slavery with a visit to a safe house.
Run by The Salvation Army, the safe house can support up to 32 women, offers essential services such as a gym, sensory room, multi-faith space, and counselling areas.
During the visit, the daughter of Prince Andrew royal met staff and residents and participated in a craft session with survivors.
Eugenie, who co-founded the Anti-Slavery Collective, called the experience “wonderful” and praised the staff’s dedication.
“Today I went on a wonderful tour of this wonderful safe house. I think it’s really important that people that people human trafficking and modern slavery exist today,” Eugenie said, per GB News.
During the tour, Eugenie further added that “people deserve to be looked after and helped and supported.”
“The staff are just incredible at what they do, they’re so dedicated,” she said, praising the staff as well as the work of The Salvation Army.
She said, “The survivors I’ve met, their lives are changed because of the Salvation Army’s intervention.”
“I wanted to make a difference and educate people about that this happening and the Salvation Army were a huge part of my learning of this subject.
“It’s so important that charities like the Salvation Army and my charity, the Anti-Slavery Collective, work together to support and make a difference and make a change.”
This appearance comes amid rumours that Prince William may turn to Eugenie and her sister Princess Beatrice for support after becoming king despite support King Charles’ stance on slimming down the monarchy.
