Sabrina Carpenter slams critics accusing her of 'oversexualizing' her image

Sabrina Carpenter has bared it all for the July/August cover of Rolling Stone, posing nude in just sheer stockings in a bold photoshoot by famed photographer David LaChapelle. 

The 26-year-old singer, known for her hit Bed Chem and Short n’ Sweet tour performances, used the opportunity to hit back at critics accusing her of oversexualizing her image.

According to Daily Mail, the ethereal, forest-themed shoot highlights Carpenter’s confidence and creative freedom, while her interview unapologetically confronts public backlash. 

In regards to this, she said, “It’s always so funny to me when people complain... but those are the songs that you’ve made popular. Clearly you love sex. You’re obsessed with it,” while referring to the viral moments from her concert performances.

Moreover, Carpenter added that despite the era of so-called “girl power,” women, particularly female artists, are scrutinized more than ever.

In regards to this, she said, “I truly feel like I’ve never lived in a time where women have been picked apart more, and scrutinized in every capacity.”

Additionally, she addressed the online hate through her vinyl-exclusive track Needless To Say, criticizing the toxic culture of zooming in on celebrity photos to mock their appearance. 

As per the outlet, Carpenter remarked, “We just have to grow thicker skin, but they don’t have to learn how to shut their mouths.”
