Desperately shocked King Charles turns up at star-studded event

King Charles said on Thursday he was desperately shocked by a plane crash which killed where over 200 passengers including 53 Britons and one Canadian in India.

The monarch issued a joint statement with his wife Queen Camilla offering condolences and paying tribute to the emergency responders.

A couple of hours after the statement was issued on behalf of the king and his wife, the monarch turned up at the St James's Palace in London where he was joined by celebrities like Meryl Streep, David Beckham and Kate Winslet.

The official Instagram account of the Royal Family shared a video from the event which it said was held to celebrate the work of The King’s Foundation, a charity founded by the monarch.

A statement said, "The King’s Foundation Awards are an annual opportunity to recognise the achievements of the charity’s students, graduates and partners."

It said, "This year, The King’s Foundation is celebrating 35 years of building sustainable communities and transforming lives through practical education programmes."

"As Royal Founding President, The King spent time congratulating Award winners for expertise in environmental education, traditional heritage crafts and sustainable architecture."
