Ralph Fiennes has opened up about his feeling for becoming the part of The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping.
The Hollywood actor will portray the role of President Coriolanus Snow, which was previously played by Donald Sutherland in the four Hunger Games movies.
For those unversed, Sutherland passed away at the age of 88 on June 20, 2024, after suffering from 'long illness.'
While promoting his upcoming movie 28 Years Later during an interview with Entertainment Tonight, he candidly shared his excitement for his role in the fifth installment of Hunger Games.
"I worked with Donald Sutherland once. I thought he was fantastic," the Conclave actor lauded.
In 2006, Fiennes and Sutherland co-starred in Land of the Blind, in which a mountaineer discovers a remote village where everyone is blind.
"Obviously big shoes to sort of stand alongside of, but he brought wonderful complexity to that part and I'm playing a slightly younger version of him,” he continued. “I am challenged but excited. I'm looking forward to it."
Previously, the 62-year-old actor discussed his approach to play the younger version of Sutherland’s on screen role in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
“Look, I’m a Donald Sutherland fan. I’m not going to try and be Donald Sutherland, because no one can be him," he said.
"I think the character he created is very complex… The complexity of that psychology, I hope I can echo in some way,” Ralph Fiennes added, before signing off.
The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping is scheduled to be released on November 20, 2026.
